So it’s officially 2016…I wasn’t sure if it would ever get here! I would like to start by thanking everyone for their prayers. Your love and support does not go unnoticed and is something that I don’t take for granted. Over the past several years, I have felt God put on my heart the overwhelming desire to serve him through music. I have played worship music off and on throughout my whole life, both in and out of church. But this time, His call for me was unmistakably clear. I started receiving seemingly random calls and requests to lead worship at various churches and events. The people knew I played country music, but said they knew I was a believer and that God had it put on their heart that I would fit what they were looking for at their specific event. Each time, as we sang the songs and worshiped together, it became more obvious that this was where I was supposed to be and what I was to do with the gifts I was given. Country music was a big part of my life, but I had developed an intense passion for worship music. The melodies in my head were no longer George Strait and Blake Shelton, but Chris Tomlin and Matt Maher. When I would sit down with the guitar, music and lyrics seemed to just flow out. God was steering me in the direction he wanted me to go, and one morning sitting in the pew at First Baptist Inez I had such an incredible moment of clarity. God gave me the gift of music so that I could glorify Him, not me! So in November of 2014, my wife and I decided that New Years Eve 2015 would be my “Last Call” with Clay Crockett & the Shotgun Riders. As of January 1, 2016, I was to have one mission with the music I played….glorify God.
For that reason, my wife Vern and I began 204 ministries. This ministries purpose will initially to support the worship band I have assembled (just fyi, the band’s launch will be at RezFest 2016). The bands mission will be to “Serve, Worship and Connect our community to God through music”. In addition to the band, we hope the Ministry can grow to help and serve many needs of our community.
Just to follow up on the “Last Call” New Year’s Eve fundraiser event, it was an enormous success thanks to everyone’s support and generosity. It went exponentially better than any of us could have dreamed it would, and that has put 204 Ministries in an excellent starting position. We are currently in the process of filing our 501(c)(3) and are acquiring the necessary equipment needed so that we can travel to area churches and events to share God’s Love through Worship Music. We have so many exciting ideas for 2016 and will keep everyone up to date with what’s in the works, and what’s right around the corner. Again, your prayers and support are deeply appreciated and we can’t wait to see you at RezFest 2016!
